Recall Center Notes Delayed Deployment of Alleged Jeep Fire Recall
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- The consumer advocates at the Recall Resource Center are announcing new information on the site for those who own or have been in accidents involving recalled Jeep vehicles. A new report indicates a recent Jeep recall meant to address alleged rear-end collision fire risks has yet to be initiated*.
The Jeep Recall Resource Center is a free resource created for owners of select Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee vehicles, as well as those involved in accidents with these vehicles. Visitors can get the latest recall information, avoid potential dangers, and decide if they need legal advice.
Last June, Chrysler and Jeep agreed to recall 1.56 million Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty SUVs after the NHTSA advised they may be more likely to catch fire in rear-end collisions due to fuel leakage and gas tank puncture**.
This came after a two-year study in which at least 51 deaths were linked to the vehicles*. The recall affects 1993-1998 Grand Cherokees and 2002-2007 Libertys**.
As part of the recall, Jeep will inspect the included vehicles and install trailer hitches to protect fuel tanks that may be ruptured or punctured in an accident***. However, the NHTSA originally wanted 2.7 million Jeep recalled, and experts question whether the repairs will solve the problem***.
Now, the resource center has learned that the planned recall has been delayed as Chrysler waits for the necessary parts to be prepared*.
Last month, a West Virginia couple became the latest to die when their Jeep Liberty caught fire following a rear-end collision****.
Lawyers are offering help to those injured or who lost a loved on in an accident with a recalled Jeep vehicle. Anyone affected is encouraged to speak with a lawyer about their legal options. The Recall Center only recommends lawyers who have already handled Jeep recall lawsuits.
