Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan on Sprint One Up Annual Upgrade Plan
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 -- Sprint will soon roll out their new plan called Sprint One Up. This is an upgrade plan where customers can upgrade their smartphone device once a year instead of once every two years, says the Los Angeles Times, Sept 16.
Technology industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.
“Now Sprint can hang on to customers tempted to leave for early upgrades. A few months ago similar plans were introduced to the marketplace by AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile USA. These competitive plays may have been felt at Sprint since they have decided to introduce their own plan called Sprint One Up,” says Tech analyst Jeff Kagan.
“These plans are not for every customer. They are for the customer who always wants the next, hot, new device. Rather than waiting for two years as usual, these customers can trade-up every year. It’s all about early upgrades of smartphone handsets for customers who want them,” says Wireless analyst Kagan.
“This is good news for Sprint customers who want to upgrade their devices once a year instead of once every two years. It’s a way for Sprint to keep customers from jumping ship to get this feature. This is a good move on Sprint’s part. It’s one of the directions the industry is heading in,” says Kagan.
