Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 14, 2013
Lenovo Group Ltd. is now the number three smartphone maker, according to PC Week, Nov. 14, only behind Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co.
Tech analyst Jeff Kagan offers congratulations and comment.
“Congratulations to Lenovo on becoming the number three smartphone maker only behind Apple and Samsung,” says Principal analyst Jeff Kagan.
Lenovo, a Chinese PC maker has been selling smartphones outside of China since 2012. They became the third largest smartphone maker by shipments in the third quarter 2013. This means they passed LG Electronics Inc from South Korea.
“It has been amazing to watch Lenovo burst onto the smartphone scene and climb to number three this quickly. However the global smartphone market is about to go through another wave of change. The marketplace will look different going forward. Yesterday customers bought the more expensive smartphones. Going forward they will buy more of the less expensive smartphones.” Says Kagan.
“Which companies will win in this new battle could be different. It looks like Lenovo intends to be in the running. We’ll have to keep our eyes open and see. So congratulations Lenovo,” says Kagan.
