RingCentral is a provider of cloud and VoIP based communications. They just announced it will include RingCentral Meetings, according to their press release, May 8.

Industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

“Over the last several years RingCentral was one of the many lesser known VoIP providers, but during the last year or two they seem to be seeing much more robust growth. They are doing a good job to date, building their brand,” says principal analyst Jeff Kagan.

“RingCentral is growing in their VoIP space and talking about using cloud technology to grow. While they are not a major cloud player, this shows the importance of early adoption of cloud terminology in a companies identity. If they continue down this path, this could be helpful to them moving forward,” says tech analyst Kagan.

“Now they are expanding into what they call HD Video Meetings across their Office product line. Video conferencing continues to grow as an important slice of the pie. This RingCentral offering sounds like a lower cost option for most businesses since users don’t need any new gear,” says wireless analyst Kagan.

RingCentral says RingCentral Meetings is a multi-point HD video conferencing and web sharing app built for smartphones, tablets and computers across all three RingCentral Office Editions: Standard, Premium and Enterprise. They say it is one of the first applications to offer mobile-centric, integrated video conferencing for businesses of all sizes.

“This let’s companies and users have video meetings to and from anywhere, on a wide variety of every day devices, very quickly and easily. If this is a high quality offering, if it is easy to use; if they can market this well and if they can expand their brand this could be a very successful new service for RingCentral and their users,” says Technology analyst Kagan. “This is the direction the industry is heading in.”
