Jim Ellis Maserati Reflects on Recent 2014 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 10, 2014 -- Jim Ellis Maserati proudly reflects on the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance that was held March 7-9 at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island in Florida. The event showcased a restored Maserati 450S Coupe to celebrate the brand's impending 100th anniversary. The 19th annual car show welcomed car collectors and enthusiasts as they observed an assortment of nearly 300 cars. The event has gained global attention over the last few years for the rare vehicles and exceptional restored vehicle displays present at the exhibition.
"I am proud to be associated with such an esteemed and well established brand as Maserati," Jim Ellis Maserati General Manager Stacey Ellis Hodges said. "I look forward to the series of events scheduled this year to celebrate Maserati's 100th anniversary."
The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is an exclusive car exhibit that gathers about 25,000 guests together to view limited edition vehicle models. The event includes a silent auction and a car sale hosted by RM Auctions. The Founder of the Amelia Foundation, Bill Warner, presented awards and honorable mentions for competitors who entered their vehicles into the annual Concours d'Elegance competition. Each car entry is rated for style, quality of restoration, function and authenticity. There are several awards but the “Best of Show” award is the most coveted prize. The award is given to one car from the group of first place winners in each class. The proceeds for the event will go towards funding the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Spina Bifida of Jacksonville and the Navy–Marine Corps Relief Society.
The Maserati 450S Coupe has not been in public view for decades. The legendary coupe's design was proposed by professional racing driver Stirling Moss. Maserati hired designers Frank Costin and Carrozzeria Zagato to build the vehicle for the road circuit. The premier coupe was recently bought and restored by Maserati collector Alfredo Brener.
Maserati will be celebrating its 100th anniversary with an array of yearlong festivities commemorating the history of the brand and its founder. The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is the first of many stops for the famed Italian luxury brand.
