Jim Reed originally planned his memoir, “Turning Final, A Life Complete” (published by Trafford Publishing), to be a private-written legacy to pass down to his four sons. Yet, friends and family knew his life story deserved a wider audience, and he sets forth to share his experiences through a renewed marketing campaign for the book.
Reed tells of his short stint in the U.S. Merchant Marine Corps and his eventual enlistment into the U.S. Air Force. He also describes the excitement of being accepted into the U.S. Air Force Pilot Training Program.
A career pilot and sailor, Reed has led a life of diverse adventure. From sending U-2's to the North Pole, to retrieving missiles in the broad open ocean and a flying and boating career that spanned the world, Reed has lived an audacious life. “Turning Final, A Life Complete” captures these adventures and shares them with readers, serving a hair-whipping, hang-on-tight ride of adventure.
Now fully retired from the aviation and maritime industries, Reed spends his time chartering boats in the San Juan area and in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia.
Praise for “Turning Final, A Life Complete”:
“His concern is accuracy and truth-telling; he does not sugarcoat the gruesome deaths and disfigurements he has witnessed in his career. Some delightful poetry and colorful descriptions attempt to communicate the wonder and joy involved in the freedom of flight.”
