Award-Winning Author J.J. Clarke Invites Readers On a Transformative, Philosophical Journey
United Kingdom (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- In his incisive, new book, "The Self-Creating Universe", award-winning author J.J. Clarke takes a shot at finding a middle ground between the two seemingly conflicting fields of science and spirituality. In reconciling these two seemingly separate monumental bodies, Clarke urges readers to think differently than ever before, saying that it is only through an unsullied and open mind that man will be able to thread together the edges that divide these fundamental spheres that shape and influence lives.
"The Self-Creating Universe" is a wide-ranging attempt to bring science and spirituality together in a philosophical synthesis. It opens up to the reader exciting new developments in the natural sciences while also showing how these contribute to a worldview which addresses fundamental philosophical and social questions. The key concept is creativity, in both nature and human life. Making use of ideas from the history of philosophy and from recent speculations in sciences including cosmology and evolution, the book offers bold conjectures about the emergence of new forms of order and self-organisation in nature, in consciousness and in human life as a whole.
"My belief that philosophy, which has been my life’s work, should address itself to the fundamental needs of our time in ways which will appeal to the general educated public, while at the same time making use of some of the most important ideas from science and philosophy," Clarke said.
Timely and thoroughly compelling, "The Self-Creating Universe" will appeal to both the general reader and to specialists interested in the wider implications of their fields.
