PALM BAY, Fla., June 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In more than a decade of competing on the professional bass fishing circuits, JT Kenney made a name for himself as someone who could pose a threat to any competitor challenging for a win. In a 17-year professional fishing career, Kenney has competed in more than 300 events, earning five victories, 49 top 10 finishes, qualifying for 11 Forrest Wood Cup Championships and amassing more than $1.5-million in career earnings.
With that kind of resume, and a long list of respected sponsors, the 45-year-old pro could call anyplace home – he chooses to make his home base Palm Bay, Fla.
The reason, he says, is because of the opportunities the entire Space Coast area provides. "The Palm Bay area has some of the best fishing in the country whether you like bass fishing or saltwater fishing," said Kenney. "But, the area also offers many things to do, with beaches, activities and great food; it's an area that can appeal to everyone in the family; those are some of the reasons I live here."
However pleasant he finds his surroundings, Kenney feels most himself when he is on the water targeting fish of any species. "Palm Bay has some of the best bass lakes in the country. Bass fisherman can find great results in our beautiful fisheries, like Stick Marsh and the St Johns River; all of them teeming with big, healthy Florida bass," he said. "The diversity of the fishing in the Palm Bay area, and the saltwater fishing is every bit as good as the bass fishing. Hitting the coast and the Indian River, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean; everything is full of fish just waiting to be caught."
Kenney said that there are many ways to catch bass in the waterways around Palm Bay. "I love to throw a bladed jig, and flip heavy matted cover around here for bass," he said. "There are tremendous topwater patterns and even finesse fishing programs that produce results; and the best thing is you never know when the next bite will be the fish of a lifetime."
On the coast, Kenney said Palm Bay is a great place to catch a multitude of species. "It's a pick your poison kind of place when it comes to saltwater fishing," he said. "You can chase redfish, tarpon, snook, wahoo, dolphin, sailfish, tuna, marlin and even barracuda out here. Whether in your own boat, or with a great charter service, the fishing is just amazing."
