Author Angela McFarlane was inspired by a woman named Karina who experts told repeatedly was the worst, not the first, to live with this type of domestic violence. According to them, what she wanted to achieve was impossible. Her children were never coming home. She was crazy to think that they would. Karma is what happened when Karina proved the experts wrong. McFarlane shares Karina’s story in “karma” (published by Xlibris AU) because she wanted to write a story about domestic violence that was different to any other.

This book tells a story of love between a man and a woman, a love a mother has for her children and the Heavenly Father’s love for a particular woman. She is a mother of four children who lost everything, but in the end, lost only time.

“Domestic violence affects one in three families,” McFarlane says. “It does not discriminate between race, religion, age or social status. There are in fact waiting lists in mental health clinics and the courts to help the numerous women and men who live the life Karina lived as the good Christian wife. Domestic violence will not go away. We have to make it stop.”

“karma” is the story of what one woman did after she was told she was definitely crazy and it was dangerous for her children to live with her. It is what happened when she took on the psychiatrists and the courts to prove that there was nothing wrong with her and that it was all in her husband’s head.
