‘Francis, a Pet Spider Monkey’ receives renewed marketing effort
CHATSWORTH, Calif. (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- Author Katherine Jones is launching a new marketing campaign for “Francis, a Pet Spider Monkey” (published by AuthorHouse), a story based on her suburban family’s experience raising an Ateles geoffroyi spider monkey.
Francis was 6 months old when he was taken from his mother in a South American rain forest and shipped to a pet shop in Los Angeles. “Francis, a Pet Spider Monkey” is the true story of the Jones family’s experience bringing Francis to live with them for four years. The book adds a fictional surprise to the story – it purports that Francis could talk.
“Raising Francis was like raising a child going through the terrible twos,” Jones says. “He was intelligent, learned from observation and used his prehensile tail to open doors. He was also manipulative and threw tantrums when he was unable to control his environment.”
The Jones family had a 3-year-old boy, Brent, and a 13-year-old boy, Lewis, when they first brought Francis home. The monkey fell in love with the boys, although there was a bit of sibling rivalry between Francis and Lewis. There were also some power struggles between Dad and Francis, but Dad never gave an inch. Francis looked to Mother as his protector.
“Francis, a Pet Spider Monkey” is a true story, except for Francis’ talent for speaking. Jones says the most important details of her book are real: the family, the love and the challenges. Readers can share in the Jones family’s experience while enjoying the whimsy of dialogue with a talking monkey.
