My goal was to create a piece with a vintage, gothic mood, combining modern elements and old world designs. It has a dagger-like appearance that evokes the feeling of something ancient, yet is still elegant and wearable for every day.

Kathryn Doll of Kathryn Designs Jewelry (http://www.kathryndesignsjewelry.com) is pleased to announce her Artifact Amulet Necklace in Smoky Quartz and Bronze has been selected to be worn on Episode 512 of the CW Network’s hit show, “The Vampire Diaries.” The episode will air later this fall.

The Artifact Amulet Necklace by Kathryn Designs Jewelry ] was chosen for use by the show’s wardrobe stylist Leigh Leverett from a selection of pieces presented to her by California-based arts promotion organization, The Artisan Group®, of which Doll is a member.
The Artifact Amulet Necklace is sculpted from Goldie Bronze Metal Clay and incorporates a faceted smoky quartz cabochon.
Kathryn describes Goldie Metal clay as a “unique artisan clay comprised of tiny bonze particles suspended in organic binder material.” After sculpting and drying the amulet from the clay, she fires it in a kiln at 1510 degrees, where the binder burns away, leaving behind a sintered, durable bronze metal that is a bright shade of gold. She then hand-finishes, burnishes and treats the bronze metal to prevent tarnishing.
“This piece was created to have a dimensional feel and was constructed in several stages,” said Kathryn. “My goal was to create a piece with a vintage, gothic mood, combining modern elements and old world designs. It has a dagger-like appearance that evokes the feeling of something ancient, yet is still elegant and wearable for every day.” Kathryn is currently developing a limited edition of the Amulet Pendant in sterling silver. It should be available by Thanksgiving.
On being notified of the selection of her piece for use, the designer says, “I received notification from The Artisan Group® founder Valerie Guerrero, just as I was returning from a wonderful birthday lunch… it was the perfect birthday present.”
The Artifact Amulet Necklace is available to purchase at kathryndesignsjewelry.com or at kathryndesignsart.etsy.com. Using coupon code MYSTIC in either shop will result in a savings of 15% on any one item (offer does not apply to custom orders.) The coupon code is good through January 5, 2013.
In other news, Kathryn recently had her Bronze and Pyrite Tear Drop Necklace included in a surprise swag bag presented to singer/actress Selena Gomez at the after party for her November 6 performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Band and crew members received Kathryn’s Bronze & Concrete Cuff.
Kathryn recently showcased on display a bold, floral-inspired statement necklace and selections from her upcoming men’s jewelry line at GBK’s Celebrity Gift lounge in Honor of the Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees and Presenters.
