“We are excited to welcome Kathy and Frank to our Crowd It Forward team, said crowdfunding expert Kendall Almerico, founder of Crowd It Forward. “It is wonderful to have veteran broadcasters and television personalities like Kathy and Frank join us on our journey to spread good news stories and to help people in need.”
Crowd It Forward is a non-profit organization that accepts tax-deductible donations and creates Random Acts of Crowdfunding for those in need and those who perform random acts of kindness to others. By highlighting positive news stories and raising funds for those who have done good deeds, Crowd It Forward perpetuates the positive news stories and makes them viral online, and also does a random act of kindness in return. Kathy Fountain and Frank Robertson have joined Crowd It Forward as the hosts of the online video series, and also will serve on the board of directors of the ClickStartMe Foundation, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, which oversees distribution of the charitable funds that are raised through the crowdfunding site.
Kathy Fountain is a former long-time anchor and talk show host on WTVT, the Fox affiliate in Tampa Bay. She was the host of the popular daytime show "The Kathy Fountain Show" which was later renamed "Your Turn." The show brought together local experts and national figures to discuss topical issues such as politics, medicine, sports and cultural issues. Kathy has interviewed hundreds of celebrities and well-known figures including Rosalynn Carter, Marco Rubio, Barbara Bush, Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist, Lawton Chiles, Lee Roy Selmon and numerous political pundits. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and received a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling. Since leaving television, Kathy has formed a private counseling practice, Kathy Fountain Fertility. She has authored numerous articles, and is a popular speaker on stress reduction and mind body techniques.
Frank Robertson is a television news anchor and reporter with 36 years of experience thinking on his feet in front of a camera. From live coverage of the 1994 Los Angeles earthquake to interviewing former President George H.W. Bush, Frank is an expert at asking the tough questions, and getting answers. Frank has anchored, produced and hosted news and sports programs for six television stations throughout the United States. For 21 years, he was one of the faces of WTVT in Tampa, where he reported, anchored nightly newscasts and produced many special segments. Before this, he spent two years co-anchoring the hour-long “Live at Five” news program on WSVN-TV in Miami, where he received a prestigious UPI news award for coverage of the casino gambling referendum in Florida. Frank’s other accolades include an Emmy Award nomination for a special report on radical environmentalists (KTVK-TV in Phoenix, Arizona) and a South Carolina Broadcasters Association award for a series of reports on colon cancer (WSPA-TV in Spartanburg, South Carolina). Additionally, Frank recently worked as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida, where he taught a course called Florida Focus, a mini newscast produced by students and airing on WUSF-TV Channel 16 in Tampa.
On Crowd It Forward, Frank currently hosts a Random Act of Crowdfunding project entitled Shoes for Semper Fi that is raising funds for a U.S. Marine who selflessly stopped running a 5K race to assist a nine year-old boy who was separated from his family. Kathy is hosting Fearce Determination featuring a homeless high school student who graduated as valedictorian of her high school class.
