Kawartha Lakes Fitness Centres Put Their "Breast Foot Forward" in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by Raising Funds for Local Breast Cancer Screening Program
Kawartha Lakes, CA (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- Kawartha Lakes fitness centres, Fit Body Boot Camp and Fit Corps Boot Camp, both owned by local fitness expert and practicing chiropractor Sean Francis, recently held a charity boot camp campaign called “Breast Foot Forward” in support of October’s global Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
During the month of October, Kawartha Lakes Fit Body Boot Camp and Fit Corps Boot Camps (including their Peterborough location) held a 14-day Fat Furnace fitness challenge that was open to the public for a $25 donation (usually priced at $67), and collected a grand total of $2,000 from the 80 locals who participated in the fundraiser in order to benefit the Ross Memorial Hospital’s Ontario Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness Program.
Inspired to help raise awareness about the dangers of not getting screened for breast cancer regularly, Francis explains, “We wanted to do our part in helping raise awareness as part of the global October Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.”
Dr. Dawn Reid Zider, ER doctor and Breast Assessment Physician at Ross Memorial Hospital, says she is thrilled that Francis’ Kawartha Lakes fitness boot camps have taken an interest in raising funds for the Ontario Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness Program. In addition to serving the community as a personal trainer and boot camp instructor, Francis and his wife Dr. Stacey Clark are both Doctors of Chiropractic dedicated to serving the City of Kawartha Lakes. Recently opening their first clinic on October 1st, the couple plans to host a Kawartha Lakes Chiropractic Grand Opening event on November 23rd from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm so area residents can come out and take a tour of the new facility and try to win one of the several donated prizes from local sponsors that will be raffled off.
Also taking place at the Grand Opening of Kawartha Lakes Chiropractic event is the presentation of the $2,000 cheque to representatives from Ross Memorial Hospital for their Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness program, raised from Francis’ “Breast Foot Forward” October charity boot camp campaign.
