Perfections Salon, Cincinnati, Honors Founder Kenneth R. Collopy, Master of the Dry Hair Cut, with a Donation to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) September 18, 2017 -- With the sudden death of well-known hair stylist Kenneth R. Collopy, founder of Perfections Salon in Montgomery, his wife and business partner Jill Wiltberger, wanted to honor his memory. In addition to keeping his beloved business open, Jill has instituted a new customer loyalty program and expanded hours to accommodate the clients that sat in Kenneth’s chair. Many clients followed him from his previous salon Kenneth's Haircutting, Inc. in Blue Ash to Perfections Salon in Montgomery and have had no other stylist for years--even decades. Kenneth was best known as the “master of the dry hair cut,” a technique which he has passed on to all of his proteges.
“There is no way to fill the gap that Kenneth left,” said Wiltberger, “but we want to honor him and the impact he made on so many lives. He died of a disease that is not common and really needs more research to keep others from the same fate.”
Founded in 2000 by brothers Albert Rose and Michael Rosenzweig, PhD, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to identifying effective PF treatments and assisting those living with the disease. The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation mobilizes people, and resources, to provide access to high-quality care. They lead research for a cure so people with pulmonary fibrosis will live longer, healthier lives.
Perfections Salon has three stylists who were personally trained in Kenneth’s signature dry cut. Annie, Irene and Ashley are all certified stylists with some extra education from the Master. Unlike most other hair designers, Kenneth’s technique was perfected over more than half a century of servicing his clientele. His career spanned 58 years, included regular television segments for Bob Braun, his own line of hair products and teaching and speaking at shows and for product manufacturers. But his love was standing behind the chair and making women beautiful. Jill said, “Kenneth believed that each woman, regardless of her age, hair color, texture or style, has her own beauty and a great cut brings it out best.”
Jill has been the owner and managing director at Perfections Salon and knows the business inside and out. She has always worked side-by-side with Kenneth during their 25-year marriage, doing everything except hair styling. Seven years ago Perfections Salon introduced a new line of Deva Curl products created by a British hairdresser and a push to service “Curly Girls,” in addition to their regular clientele. They have developed a great curly clientele who thought they were destined always to be frizzy. They stress that it’s “all about the right kind of dry cut and the right cleansing and styling products.”
Throughout the month of September, Perfections will be accepting donations and donating a portion of their retail proceeds to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. People can drop off checks in advance and pick up information about this deadly disease anytime between now and then. On Saturday, September 30, it will be designated as the honorary Kenneth R. Collopy – Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation day. Stop in between 9-4.
