Keiser University Nursing Students, Alumni to Serve at TPC Golf Championship’s First Aid Division
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) May 13, 2016 -- Keiser University Jacksonville campus nursing students, faculty, staff and alumni will be on hand to assist in first aid for TPC golf championship players and fans May 12-15 at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach.
Supervised by Keiser University faculty members and professionally trained medical personnel, over 40 students and alumni look forward to ensuring the tournament is a success, as they join community partners who often provide them with scholarships, job training, education and simulation experiences.
Initially invited to participate in the cause by TPC and the Baptist Medical Center five years ago, the Keiser University nursing program regularly contributes to the local Jacksonville community by hosting free health fairs, providing school back packs and supporting numerous charity causes.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to apply what they are learning on campus, and at their clinical rotations, to a real-world experience,” said Lisamarie Winslow, Keiser University Jacksonville campus president. “It was recently reported that the top occupation in demand continues to be registered nurses, with nearly 15,000 openings across the state. We view our contribution to the education, preparation, and appreciation of future nurses as a responsibility, and it is fitting to recognize them during National Nurses Week,” she added.
THE PLAYERS Championship volunteer force is made up of over 2,200 volunteers. Volunteers are assigned to a committee on one of four divisions: Player Services, Spectator Services, Volunteer Services and Facilities.
