There were so many great designs and ideas, and it was hard to narrow it down to just one. However, in the end, Lilli's wildly colorful concept and confident message rose above the rest.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2017
Knockaround Sunglasses, a San Diego-based affordable sunglasses company, is excited to announce the release of this year’s student-designed Class Acts sunglasses. The sunglasses, named “Peacock Life,” were designed by Lilli Hayes, a 5th grader from Ramona Elementary School in Ramona, California.
Class Acts is Knockaround’s ongoing campaign that supports art education by donating money, resources, and supplies to local elementary schools with limited budgets.
Every year, Knockaround visits local elementary schools to talk about the importance of art in everyday life. Students are given the opportunity to design their own special pair of sunglasses. One winning design is selected, produced, and sold on Knockaround.com. All proceeds from the sale are then donated to the participating elementary schools and Knockaround’s charitable partner, ArtReach.
Built on Knockaround’s classically styled “Premiums” frame, Lilli’s unique design features brilliant blue polarized lenses and an eye-spotted tail feather print on iridescent green fronts and arms. Pulling inspiration from Lilli's original drawing, the Peacock Life showboats details like the piercing silver K logos and a peacock logo laser etched on the left lens. Every pair comes with a microfiber peacock protective pouch and a Knockaround sticker.
On her original Peacock Life drawing, Lilli added the caption, “I will shine in the sun.”
“Like previous years, we received hundreds of student designs to choose from,” said Knockaround’s CEO and Founder, Adam Moyer. “There were so many great designs and ideas, and it was hard to narrow it down to just one. However, in the end, Lilli's wildly colorful concept and confident message rose above the rest.”
The Peacock Life sunglasses are sold for $30 and were released nationally on Knockaround.com on Monday, April 24th, 2017. They will also be available for purchase at the Mission Federal ArtWalk event on April 29th and April 30th, 2017 in the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego, California.
Previous Class Acts winning designs include sunglasses inspired by wildlife (“Shark Attack”), food (“Nacho”), and nature (“Striker” and “After the Storm”).
To date, Knockaround has raised over $60,000 for elementary art education in San Diego County through its Class Acts program.
“It’s awesome to see the enthusiasm and appreciation for art among the participating students, and in the coming years we hope to bring our Class Acts program into even more elementary schools, potentially nationwide,” said Moyer. “It would be fantastic to have even more young and creative artists like Lilli designing fun and unique sunglasses!”
