NELSON, BC (PRWEB) May 16, 2017
Kokanee Mountain Zipline, one of the West Kootenay’s most popular BC attractions, will host its second annual Community Day event to thank locals for their support and raise funds for an important neighbouring society.
Owned and operated by brothers Todd Manton and Jay Manton, Kokanee Mountain Zipline invites residents of the Nelson area to attend Community Day on Friday, May 26, from 9 am to 5:15 pm. Kokanee Mountain Zipline will offer 50 percent off its ziplining tours for those who live in the Nelson area, with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards the West Kootenay EcoSociety.
“Any of the revenue collected for the tours that day will be directly donated to the EcoSociety, which does a lot for our community,” said Todd Manton.
“It was a super successful way for us to promote our business and help them at the same time,” said Manton. “The EcoSociety do such a good job, so we thought we’d give back and help them be successful. We believe a lot in what they do and we’re trying to adopt more of those practices.”
The West Kootenay EcoSociety creates initiatives and programs to raise awareness about climate change, wild places and food security. As operator of the Kokanee Nature Centre in Kokanee Creek Provincial Park, located two kilometres from the zipline, the EcoSociety offers daily nature and conservational programs for children and adults throughout the summer. The centre is also host to nature displays, hand-on activities, a Kootenay ride share program, and the society supports sustainable food systems via a variety of farmers markets and festivals.
Kokanee Mountain Zipline staff will be donating their time and services during Community Day. The company anticipates booking 120 spots for the May 26 event, which can only be booked through their toll-free line: 1-844-764-4484. Manton urges people to book as soon as possible as tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis. Last year the spots sold out a week in advance.
Situated on 44 acres off old growth forest and glacial views, the zipline is located along Kokanee Glacier Park Road, two kilometres north off Highway 3A and Kokanee Creek Provincial Park.
The original ziplining company in the West Kootenays, Kokanee Mountain Zipline offers six zipline experiences, from the 90-foot warm-up line to the 2,400-foot cross canyon mega-ride.
Kokanee Mountain Zipline is now open on weekends, and will operate 45 minute tours from 9 am until 5:15 pm everyday after Victoria Day long weekend (May 22).
