"Shaman" tells the story of a U.S. senator from Maryland who must learn about the mystical Akashic Records, reincarnation and shamanism in an effort to save the world from evil forces intent on heating the Earth's core and accelerating climate change. Dan Alston questioned his sanity. A successful businessman and U.S. senator, his entire life had been plagued by strange voices and visions. The episodes were ambiguous and easily ignored. The premise of the story came from a conversation with a business colleague over coffee at the Towson Starbucks. As my colleague enthusiastically shared his interest in these subjects, I knew I had the basis for my next novel," Polakoff said.
Ever since he was a teenager, Sam wanted to write novels. For decades, ideas for plot lines and characters invaded his mind. Occasionally, he would write down an idea or two, but using the normal excuses, too busy with work, too tired, or not enough time, he successfully procrastinated for almost 40 years. Eventually, a challenge from a mentor got him started. Today, Polakoff successfully manages the daily rigors of building a 73-year old family business and writing thrillers.
