Kosmoratik, a Norwegian Band Formed in Oslo in 2011, Present Their Newly Released and Highly Anticipated Second Album, Bridges and Boats
(PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- Kosmoratik, a Norwegian band formed in Oslo in 2011, present their newly released and highly anticipated second album, Bridges and Boats. The music of Kosmoratik has been described as melodious and symphonic pop. Their music is simultaneously epic and sincere -- acoustic guitars, string quartet and oboe blend with a rock band approach. With "a debut album that explores music full of strings, delicacy, and influences from Pink Floyd and Nick Drake," (AMAROKPROG) Kosmoratik was sure to create an album that would delight fans of their 2012 debut, Gravitation. “We are song-based and it is important that the melodies are clear and strong. We want to share a musical room with the listener and establish a way of communicating through the music,” says primary songwriter Eivind Johnson. “The title of the new album Bridges and Boats also reflects this idea.”
"While sounding fresh and inventive, their music has its groundings in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s, an era when psychedelic rock was evolving into early progressive rock and singer-songwriters were in their apogee." - Geoff Feakes, DPRP
The international trio explores complex themes through a musical framework, communicating both within and behind the lyrics. Not looking to completely harness a retro feel, Kosmoratik presents a balanced and compact semblance of symphonic pop with classic rock affiliations. Eivind Johansen sings alongside Lise Lotte Ågedal, who brings a wide vocal range that can sway from classical jazz to alt rock sounds. The duo has collaborated together for several years, citing inspiration from timeless poets such as Rumi and Hafez. The third band member, Odd Gunnar Frøysland, is a talented guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who writes the music together with Eivind as well as creating the arrangements for the more intricate songs that include larger string and wind ensembles. With a knack for moving ballads involving strings and a smattering of pop appeal, Kosmoratik maintains their first wave progressive rock affiliations while presenting a new sound.
Bridges and Boats was recorded at Lydkjøkkenet by Øytstein Vesaas as well as at their own studio and was mastered by Morten Lund at Lunds Lyd. The band continues an ambition to stay fresh and grow while still honoring their influences. With expanding audiences at home in Norway and abroad, Kosmoratik are a band not to be overlooked.
