The author Kota V Subbaram has been pursuing poetry as one of his passionate interests much as the same way as a scientist studies nature and tries to 'understand' its functioning. The author also tries to understand the true essence of poetry and its many subtleties.
“Derivatives” (published by Partridge India) is the sixth collection of poems by Kota V. Subbaram and deals with varied themes, topics, and ideas. The poet has based his work on different dimensions of man and the familial, manifestations of nature, primal elements, abstractions, insights into diverse experiences he has had in life, the imagination that goes into creating new mini-worlds; and intuition that provides new perceptions about the unseen. Each poem is unique and gives the reader the pleasure of capturing the sensitivities of the poet in nuanced forms and his poetic sensibilities at multiple levels.
The various themes and topics chosen, the way they are articulated as poems with unusual imagery with the lingual and sub-lingual flyers, the interplay of the actual and the metaphorical, the emphasis on the ironical, the angst of man in reckoning with vulnerabilities of life and realities of modernity.
