Labyrinth Learning Releases New Course Solutions for Payroll Accounting, Accounting Basics, and QuickBooks Pro 2014
BERKELEY, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2014 -- Labyrinth Learning, a global publisher of digital and print learning solutions, today announced the launch of its new Business & Accounting Series.
Community colleges, technical schools, and universities are facing challenges to increase student learning outcomes and ensure job readiness upon course completion. A recent Gallup Poll found that barely one in ten (11 percent) business leaders strongly agree that college graduates have the skills and competencies that their workplaces need. According to the Gallup blog, “too few students across all majors and disciplines are getting real world experience working on real problems.”
Labyrinth Learning, long known for its easy-to-learn, practical approach to computer concepts and applications, is now applying its proven instructional design to ensure business and accounting students can effectively apply the theoretical concepts they learn.
“We’ve taken a completely different approach than traditional accounting course materials,” said Jason Favro, Product Manager for Labyrinth Learning. “Working with our advisory group of educators, we learned that students were leaving courses without the needed skills that prepare them for jobs. We’ve worked hard to strike the right balance between theory and practical application, so students learn concepts and then get plenty of practice in real-world tasks. We don’t just show blank or completed forms; we walk the student through the process of completing the forms and performing the calculations necessary to process payroll.”
Labyrinth’s new series includes Payroll Accounting: A Practical, Real-World Approach; Accounting Basics: An Introduction for Non-Accounting Majors; and QuickBooks Pro 2014: Comprehensive. These multimedia course solutions combine print or digital textbooks with eLab, a web-based learning and assessment tool that strengthens student understanding through videos, quizzes, and assessments.
Eric Weinstein, author of Payroll Accounting: A Practical, Real-World Approach, said, “I’ve been an accounting instructor for several years, and I was highly motivated to create a course solution that made learning easier and more effective. We’ve done that with a solution that combines engaging coverage of concepts with real-world case studies, plenty of practice, and a broad choice of assessments to reinforce and demonstrate learning.”
Accounting Basics: An Introduction for Non-Accounting Majors is available now in print and digital format at http://www.lablearning.com. QuickBooks Pro 2014: Comprehensive will be available on May 28, 2014, and Payroll Accounting: A Practical, Real-World Approach will be available on July 2, 2014. Revised editions of Payroll Accounting with updated IRS forms and tax rates will be published each November, starting in 2014.
