Lakeside Foodservice Reveals Top Trends Impacting Industry
Report shows growing need for practical solutions to meet the changing needs of today's consumer
WEST MILWAUKEE, Wis., Feb. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Foodservice operators need to focus on delivering a dining experience that goes "beyond the meal," while managing labor challenges, among other strategies, to find success in today's ultra-competitive market, according to a Lakeside foodservice e-report on the top trends impacting foodservice equipment and design. Lakeside foodservice, a leading manufacturer of foodservice solutions plans to release the complete e-report at the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) Show, taking place February 7-9, 2019, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
"The trends we have identified emerged from hundreds of genuine conversations and simply listening some of the most respected innovative operators across the country," said Joe Carlson, president of Lakeside Manufacturing, Inc. & Sandstone Group, Inc., and the current president of NAFEM. "It's only through embracing these trends and solutions that that we can successfully navigate and develop innovative solutions to support operator's response to some of the trends. We look forward to showcasing at NAFEM a variety of carefully engineered solutions designed for emerging needs and new experiences driven by the customers our operators will serve today and in the future."
When it comes to "beyond eating," the e-report indicates consumers are looking not only for great food, but also for a sensory-rich, immersive dining experience when they eat out. They crave what's new, exciting and bold in terms of both flavor and ambiance.
"Today's consumers relate to food in a deeper, more meaningful way than previous generations," Carlson said. "They are actively seeking out ways to make a more personal connection with their food choices and preparation to enjoy positive dining experiences they can share with others."
As a result, operators must be able to keep up with regular menu changes, including showcasing more authentic menu items with all the interactions and live-action cooking that comes with it, the e-report shows. As labor costs continue to escalate and recruiting and retaining new talent presents ongoing challenges, more operators are turning to automated, multifunction, smarter equipment that leverage efficiency and consistency with innovative design.
"By identifying these emerging trends that are impacting the foodservice industry, operators can better plan for the solutions that translate into success," Carlson said. "For example, with the growth of 'emerging entrepreneurs' such as food halls, ghost kitchens, delivery-only restaurants and other non-traditional foodservice operations, foodservice equipment that can perform multiple functions in smaller spaces is a must."
Lakeside's capability to prove flexible, modifiable and customizable solutions are grounded in proven Lean Manufacturing methods that help operators optimize service, improve speed, and enable experience-driven food preparation in all types of operations.
