Los Angeles Movies in the Park Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Purple Rain in Griffith Park on August 16
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- LA movies in the park event series, Eat|See|Hear, is showing “Purple Rain” at the Autry National Center in Griffith Park on Saturday, August 16 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available for advance purchase online through Eventbrite. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will include a live performance by LA band Chicano Batman at 7:00 p.m.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of “Purple Rain,” the 1984 rock musical drama film starring Prince. This was was Prince’s film debut and was originally developed to exhibit his talent as a musician; it has since become a rock movie classic.
The event on Saturday will be held on the lawn outside the Autry National Center in Griffith Park located at 4700 Heritage Way. Free parking for the event is available across the street at the LA Zoo. All ticket holders will also have free access to explore some of the museum’s galleries before the movie begins.
This Eat|See|Hear event is dog-friendly and free doggie biscuits will be given out at the entrance. Food trucks will be on location serving food throughout the evening including Baby’s Badass Burgers, Romolo’s, Cambalaches, No Jodas Kitchen, Postcards CAS, Rushed Art, CJ’s Wings, Royal Red Velvet, Coolhaus, Brasil Kiss and more.
“This movie is arguably the greatest rock movie ever made and definitely one to see on the big screen! We’ll be showing it on the largest outdoor movie screen west of the Mississippi,” said Sharon Sperber, executive producer of Eat|See|Hear. “This is a great evening for all die-hard Prince fans and anyone looking to sing along and see this classic film.”
