La Porte County Recorder Goes Digital with Simplifile E-Recording Service
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- La Porte County announced they are now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, offering a faster, more convenient, ‘paperless’ recording option for customers.
“E-Recording is another way technology will make information more quickly obtainable,” said La Porte County Recorder Barbara Dean. “Within minutes of e-recording a document, it can be seen on the computer by anyone interested. As Keeper of Records, it is my goal to allow taxpayers current and easy access to all land records.”
With the availability of e-recording, customers including title companies, banks, attorneys, lien filers, and others who do business with the recorder’s office, will be able to quickly prepare or scan, upload, and submit land documents for recording online.
“The e-recording company Simplifile has been chosen to be the agent for our office. This company comes with excellent reviews and is nationwide which will allow us to receive documents from all over the country. We instituted e-recording about two weeks ago and have enjoyed how fast and easy this process can be. There will no longer be letters to open, documents to sort or postage and overnight fees to contend with,” Dean said. “By e-recording, our office will also eliminate scanning the instruments. La Porte County will save money and valuable time processing documents in this fashion.”
Other benefits of e-recording include increased document security, ACH payment processing, and fewer rejected documents.
“Thanks to the interest and cooperation of the Auditor’s Office and the Assessor’s Office, all documents submitted may be e-recorded,” Dean added. “Users of this system will laud the fast return of recorded documents and appreciate how quickly errors can be corrected. Items submitted in packages will eliminate missing forms, and transferred funds will make accounting an easy task.
The recorder’s office will be holding an e-recording kick-off meeting March 20, 2014, in the Commissioners Meeting Room in the County Annex Building at 809 State Street in La Porte from 10 a.m. to noon.
