Lasting Contribution in Governance of Digital Disclosure a Key Feature of Outgoing Chair Robert Tarola's Term in Office
XBRL International Board of Directors thanks Chairman Robert Tarola for his service to the organisation and the positive impact of his leadership.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- XBRL International and the Board of Directors have expressed their appreciation to their outgoing Chairman Robert Tarola, President of Right Advisory LLC, as he steps into the role of Vice Chair.
XBRL International thanks outgoing Chairman of the Board of Directors Robert Tarola for his valuable contributions, particularly on the issue of improving digital disclosure governance. Mr. Tarola brought a corporate governance and management perspective to the Board, speaking regularly about the need for validation and oversight to meet user expectations and to maximize the reliability of digital business reporting.
During his time as Chairman of the Board of Directors Robert Tarola has brought his extensive experience as a public company director, public company CFO and public company auditor to bear on the issue of digital disclosure governance. He has used his informed perspective to bring attention to the existing governance gaps concerning digital disclosures. Through his involvement with this important issue Robert has provided a unique contribution to global financial transparency. Summarising the key point, Mr Tarola said "In a nutshell, public companies and the audit profession need to recognise the critical importance that digital disclosure in Inline XBRL now plays for the investment community and must modernise their processes and policies accordingly."
CEO John Turner commented "It is a real pleasure to work with Bob. His exceptional judgement and clear vision about the future of reporting mean that he is able to cut through complexity to the essence of an issue, always with an eye to the public interest. Improving governance and independent review of digital disclosure is a small but vital change for policy makers across key markets. Bob is absolutely right to focus on this. His understanding of the issues associated with business reporting, from every angle, is a huge asset. His time as Chair has been extremely important and we are all thankful for the time and commitment he has devoted to XBRL International."
Robert has followed XBRL development and implementation since 2005 as a member of the AICPA Assurance Executive Committee and as a participant CFO in the US SEC's voluntary filing pilot project. He helped to implement XBRL as a director and audit committee member for two public companies and also encouraged the PCAOB to utilize XBRL as a way to connect auditors with data used by financial analysts.
Robert will step into the role of Vice Chair on the Board of Directors through to the end of 2020 and will continue to bring his valuable perspective to the development and promotion of the XBRL standard, with a particular focus on the needs of issuers and investors responsible for publishing and analysing data.
