Latesha Weekes launches new marketing push for storybook portraying parent, child’s moments before dreamtime

Educator and children’s author Latesha Weekes was inspired by the times when her daughter had difficulty sleeping. She would avoid going to sleep at night and offer several reasons as to why she could not do so. Weekes would stay with her, providing comfort until she finally slept. These are the tender times between parent and child depicted in Weekes’ aptly titled storybook, “Good Night Darling Emily” (published by Xlibris).

“All children have a moment in life when it's hard for them to fall asleep,” Weekes says. She turns her experiences into a vibrantly illustrated rhyming narrative showing her readers — parents and children alike — how a child named Emily receives love and patience from her mother who, in the end, says, “Goodnight Darling Emily” as her sojourn to slumber land starts. The storybook conveys the love mother and child have for each other and how they want to be by each other’s side during bedtime, particularly in Emily’s case, as she avoids sleeping just to have extra time with her mom.

“This book is relevant in today’s society because as a parent I love my children and bedtime seems to be a difficult time for children to separate from their parents,” Weekes says. “This book can help create a healthy transition into their bedtime routines.”
