Metcalf & Associates’ Recommends VoiceAmerica Interviews on leveraging Brain Science and Mindfulness
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) July 26, 2016 -- Maureen Metcalf conducted interviews with two prominent researchers and thought leaders focusing on leveraging brain science and mindfulness to improve leadership effectiveness. Her interview with Gary Weber titled "Using Brain Science to Enhance Leadership” aired July 5, 2016. Metcalf’s interview with Maryanna Klatt, "Mindfulness: Manage Stress and Improve Performance", aired on June 14, 2016 for her show on VoiceAmerica business radio.
Gary Weber is a subject/collaborator in neuroscience studies at Yale, Institute of Noetic Sciences, Baumann Institute, Center for Study of Non-Symbolic Consciousness, Johns Hopkins, and Penn State. Recently he has been researching and writing about happiness beyond thought. He is applying his extensive research skills to helping leaders.
Maryanna Klatt is an Associate Professor of Clinical Family Medicine. Her research mission is to explore mind/body interventions for the workplace that can enhance individual and community health, well-being, and functionality. She accomplishes this mission through interdisciplinary teaching, research, and service. Through her development and research of Mindfulness in Motion, a Mindfulness-Based Intervention designed for the workplace, she is able to explore the efficacy of this technique. This protocol has been licensed to an OSU start-up.
Human brain size has increased three times since the split from the chimpanzees until humans developed the first mental operating system. Many structural, organization, and neural modifications evolved before this could emerge.
The current mental operating system has many limitations. It is difficult to focus on important "stuff" with the continual interference from self-referential internal narrative having its own conversations running in the background all of the time. It consumes huge amounts of energy, wastes much bandwidth, and increases negative energy. It also results in emotionally-charged memories that lead to depression, anxiety, dis-ease, worries, craving, attachment, suffering, etc.
As a companion to the interviews, Weber and Metcalf published blogs to accompany these interviews. These blogs are designed to give listeners additional information about the topics.
