Lep Foundation for Youth Education Introduces CURE® – Cancer Support Scholarship to Support Education of Childhood Cancer Survivors
MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (PRWEB) April 06, 2016 -- The Lep Foundation for Youth Education, in collaboration with CURE Media Group, publishers of CURE® Magazine, have launched the CURE® – Cancer Support Scholarship to support students who are cancer patients or survivors who have shown the courage and determination to pursue their college education despite their challenges.
This summer, a $5,000 new CURE – Cancer Support Scholarship will be awarded to a qualified individual to help cover his or her college costs following a financial hardship due to overwhelming medical expenses. The CURE – Cancer Support Scholarship is designated for U.S.-based students diagnosed with cancer in childhood or adolescence, and whose disease and related treatments placed a significant financial burden on them and their families. Scholarship recipients must furnish a letter of confirmation (at award notification) by a licensed physician as proof of their cancer diagnosis.
“We’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to provide financial support to some amazing students who have shown incredible drive and determination to succeed in life and overcome significant challenges,” says Lep Foundation Chair David Lepping. “We’re well aware of the challenges patients and families experience when fighting cancer, including the financial burden they face throughout the journey. We’re honored to have the opportunity to work with CURE Media Group and CURE magazine on this new scholarship.”
CURE – Cancer Support Scholarship applications can be found at http://www.Lepfoundation.org. Applications are due by May 1, and may be submitted electronically.
Since 2010, Lep Foundation for Youth Education has raised more than $200,000, and has awarded 34 scholarships to deserving students to assist with college costs. In the past, the foundation has specifically supported disabled and economically disadvantaged youth with scholarships awarded annually to help ease the cost of college for the selected winners.
