Two Tapella & Eberspacher LLC attorneys, Lindsay Rakers and Angel Wawrzynek, visited hospitalized veterans on Saturday, November 6. The visits were inspired by the Injury Board’s Day of Action, which is a nationwide effort of community outreach to bring together plaintiff’s law firms across the country to all work for the same cause.

Tapella & Eberspacher is a member of the Injury Board, and decided to participate in the Day of Action to reach out to a new demographic and increase the firm’s community involvement.

"These visits were not legal-related in any way,” said Tapella & Eberspacher Business Manager Rick Hall. “They were just there to visit the veterans in hospitals -- to stop in and chat with them and introduce themselves."

Lindsay Rakers visited a hospital in St. Louis, MO, where she was able to go room to room and hand out convenience and hygiene packs containing small necessities like toothbrushes, toothpaste, gloves, hats, and recreational items like playing cards. According to Hall, Ms. Rakers enjoyed her visit, the time was well spent, and the veterans were very appreciative.

“This was a very good project for our attorneys to be involved with,” said Rick Hall. “It was a very moving experience for them and they plan to support these veterans throughout the year as a result of this visit.”

Angel Wawrzynek visited a hospital in Danville, IL, where she was also able to go room to room handing out small necessities and spend time getting to know the veterans. According to Hall, the visits made such an impression on Ms. Wawrzynek that she plans to return to the hospital for more visits.

“Vets are often admitted to hospitals and once there, they don't get a chance to see many people,” added Hall. “They don't get many visitors either and therefore they really appreciate people just stopping by and talking to them for awhile.”

Tapella & Eberspacher has been involved with and supports other projects like the United Way, but this is the first one that involves direct contact and communication with veterans.
