Liquid Concepts LLC has announced the release of its latest resource “The Process of Painting a Vehicle.” This resource examines the process of painting a vehicle by covering the different paint layers, items needed when painting a vehicle, and steps involved in the painting process.

When a vehicle is painted, the paint color is first matched to the vehicle, and then all surfaces that will not be painted must be covered. The next step involves using abrasive materials to sand the vehicle, followed by applying the primer layer. After the primer is applied, the vehicle is resanded to eliminate any powdery residue, and then the base coat of paint is applied to the vehicle. The final step in the painting process is to apply lacquer, a clear coating that protects the base layer of paint.

“After the car has been primed, the base coat is applied by spraying it on, and it's here that the visual characteristics and colors are born,” according to Liquid Concepts LLC. While the primer layer of paint allows for the base coat to adhere better to the vehicle, the vehicle’s top coat is the last of the paint layers and works to protect the paint job from the environment including UV rays from sunlight.
