According to the CDC, Listeria is transmitted through contaminated food ingested by humans. Those most at risk include pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system. Symptoms of Listeria include: fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, and may include fatigue, headache, stiff neck, loss of balance and confusion.

The Kansas State University study led by Dr. James Marsden also found that the technology was effective at reducing the following: MRSA (99.8% reduction), Staphylococcus aureus (98.5% reduction), Escherichia coli (E. coli, 98.1% reduction), Anthrax Family (99.38% reduction), Streptococcus spp. (96.4% reduction), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (99% reduction), Listeria monocytogenes (99.75% reduction), Candida albicans (99.92% reduction), and black mold (99.93% reduction). The study was conducted on stainless steel surfaces in a controlled airflow cabinet.
