Noffsinger Insurance Agencies and the Literacy Center of West Michigan Initiate Charity Drive to Fund Adult Education
Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- Noffsinger Insurance Agencies, a locally owned insurance firm serving Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and the surrounding communities, is teaming up with the Literacy Center of West Michigan to launch a joint charity drive aimed at advocating for literacy and raising funds that will be used to assist local adults with improving their reading skills.
The Literacy Center of West Michigan works with both native English speakers and English learners to improve the literacy skills of Michigan residents. The mission of the Literacy Center of West Michigan is to bring about a just and vibrant West Michigan through the power of literacy, and to educate the local population toward informed actions surrounding literacy in the region.
“I was bowled over when I found out that one in eight residents of Kent County is functionally illiterate,” says Mark Noffsinger, owner and manager of Noffisinger Insurance Agencies. “Literacy is more than just a skill, it’s a right, and we’re working with the Literacy Center to improve adult reading skills throughout the state.”
Noffsinger and his team are reaching out to community members and business leaders throughout western Michigan, both to gather donations that will be used to fund the Literacy Center and to advocate for the importance of universal adult literacy. The Noffsinger team is also constructing a social media page that they predict will draw in even more donations from families throughout the state.
In addition to assisting the Literacy Center of West Michigan in their ongoing mission to improve adult reading skills in nearby communities, Noffsinger and his team have worked with several other local charities in recent months. “We’re trying to bring about positive change for everyone,” explains Noffsinger, “and we’re going to find a new charity to work with every month or two from here forward.”
