Fairfield Theatre Company Welcomes Grateful Dead Drummer Mickey Hart
Fairfield, CT (PRWEB) August 07, 2013 -- Grateful Dead founding member Mickey Hart will bring his latest project, which forges music and technology together, to the Norwalk Concert Hall on Friday, August 16 at 8:00 p.m. The Norwalk Concert Hall is a venue that Fairfield Theatre Company has just begun to use for the first time. Touring in support of the band’s last record, Superorganism, Mickey Hart is taking audiences even deeper than his previous album Mysterium Tremendum where Hart used sonified light waves from space with the help of NASA and scientists from Penn State University.
Each night of the upcoming tour, Mickey Hart will perform with an EEG cap upon his head while he plays, allowing audiences to hear and see the sounds of his brain. This idea began early in 2012 with Hart’s research on the effect of rhythm on the brain with Dr. Adam Gazzalley of the University of California, San Francisco.
“This time we journey into the micro, the hidden worlds of rhythm within us, within our bodies,” said Hart. “The brain, rhythm central, the place of dreams is explored. My brain wave signals are re-imagined in sound using a cap with electrodes that can read the throbs and signals of the brain. I have also sonified the sounds of stem cells, and heart rhythms for this recording.”
The Mickey Hart Band consists of Grammy winning percussionist and longtime band mate Sikiru Adepoju, Tony Award winning vocalist Crystal Monee Hall, singer and multi-instrumentalist Joe Bagale, drummer Greg Schutte, guitarist Gawain Matthews, bassist Reed Mathis of Tea Leaf Green, 7 Walkers, Marco Benevento Trio, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, and keyboardist and sound engineer Jonah Sharp.
Always pushing boundaries The Mickey Hart Band will take audiences on a musical odyssey of space, time and now, the brain. This will have audiences talking about the show for years to come. So make sure to come out and see this rare amazing show as Fairfield Theatre Company brings another incredible musical act to the Norwalk Concert Hall.
