"First Step really spoke to our team. With Domestic Violence Awareness Month coming up this October we wanted to find an organization that would really make a difference and help these domestic violence victims and their families,"

The caring team at Bowker Insurance Group launches another charity campaign for the month of October as part of their ongoing community involvement program in the communities of Michigan. Turning their efforts to helping the area’s domestic violence survivors and their families by adopting Fist Step, one of the organizations invited to participate in Allstate's Purple Purse Challenge.

First Step is the only non-profit agency in out-Wayne County providing comprehensive services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. These confidential programs are designed to help these strong survivors of violence overcome any challenges they might be facing due to this experience. First Step offers many types of services, anything from prevention programs and community education to basic needs, transitional housing and a 24-hour help line.

"First Step is one organization that really spoke to our team. With Domestic Violence Awareness Month coming up this October we wanted to find an organization that would really make a difference and help these domestic violence victims and their families," says Cheryl Bowker, owner of Bowker Insurance Group.

Join us in our mission to raise funds for this amazing organization and their Purple Purse Challenge amount so they can continue to help local victims of domestic violence reach a place of safety and peace.

For the month of September, Bowker Insurance Group will be supporting homeless cats and kittens by partnering with Ferndale Cat Shelter, donations are now being accepted at: https://www.crowdrise.com/providing-homeless-cats-with-loving-homes2/fundraiser/cherylbowker.

Ferndale Cat Shelter is a nonprofit organization only two and a half years old which rescues cats and kittens throughout the community, providing shelter and care for homeless, ill and abandoned animals through a wonderful group of volunteers and foster families. Working hard to find loving, forever homes for their animals, Ferndale Shelter also educates the community on proper care, training and treatment of furry friends through a variety of avenues, including a blog on their website. A fun time can always be found at their Ferndale Cat Café, which enables cat owners and their pets to join together for tea and socializing.

“This cause is very dear to my team,” stated Cheryl Bowker, owner of Bowker Insurance Group. “With colder weather approaching, we want to make sure Ferndale Shelter has the funds they need to care our community’s needy cats and kittens and find them good, warm, loving homes.”

Bowker Insurance hopes to bring greater awareness and support for First Step and Ferndale Cat Shelter by mobilizing their own network of personal and professional contacts from their three area locations to help spread the word about these campaigns. The agency’s team has set a fundraising goal of $500 and has pledged to donate $10 for each and every referral they receive for an insurance quote, with no purchase necessary. Readers wishing to have a donation made in their name may recommend friends and/or make personal donations through: http://bowkerinsurancegroup.com/community-cause. All who would like to help provide for victims of domestic violence and homeless cats this winter are invited to share the page with others in their own personal and professional circles.

The agency has also featured the initiative in their monthly community magazine, which is delivered to thousands of households in greater Detroit. The electronic Flipbook version of the current issue of Our Hometown may be viewed here: http://www.bowkerinsurancegroup.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_41.

With their ongoing Community Program, Bowker Insurance will continue to seek out and support people in need in the local community, debuting a new campaign every two to three months in collaboration with community members and local nonprofits.
