SAN ANTONIO, March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) announced Lonie Savage received Board Certification in Family Law. Ms. Savage is a paralegal at The Whitley Law Firm, P.C. in Bexar County, Texas. Ms. Savage has been with the firm since its founding in 2013. Prior to 2013, Ms. Savage worked with Deanna L. Whitley at another firm.
According to the TBLS, paralegal certification "recognizes and promotes the availability, quality, and utilization of the services of paralegals who, working under the supervision of duly licensed attorneys, have achieved a level of special knowledge in particular areas of law..." There are several thousand paralegals in Texas. Fewer than 400 are Board Certified by the TBLS.
"A successful firm handling complex cases cannot exist unless the paralegals are exceptional. Lonie studied O'Connor's Civil Trials after hours, on her own, for many years. I was not surprised when Lonie passed the paralegal certification exam on her first attempt. She understands how the law intersects with practical legal issues," said principal attorney, Deanna Whitley.
Ms. Savage says, "I am extremely excited to have achieved this accomplishment in my career! I knew a few years ago that I wanted to become Board Certified and began working towards my goal that very day. The additional education and training I received while on my journey towards Board Certification benefits not only myself, but the firm AND our clients. I am extremely appreciative to have been able to work with such a great mentor as Deanna L. Whitley. She has truly been my inspiration, and it is gratifying to me to be able to add this new title to my credentials and to the firm's credentials as well. My words of wisdom to paralegals thinking about taking the exam… read, listen, ask questions and read some more!"
