SAE Los Angeles Offers Presentation on Sponsorship and Endorsement Deals for Recording Artists
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- The Los Angeles campus of SAE Institute, one of America’s premier creative media colleges, presented an overview of the business aspects of sponsorship and endorsements deals for recording artists. The information session was offered in collaboration with the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP), and took place at SAE’s newly opened Los Angeles campus on February 11.
“Our partnership with NARIP is proof of our commitment to ensuring that SAE grads have the well-rounded skills and knowledge that top tier employers are looking for,” said SAE Los Angeles Campus Director Justin Pond. “Our superb faculty, curriculum, and facilities ensure that our students are career-ready once they earn their degrees, and the free information sessions that we offer to our students are valuable enhancements to our classroom offerings.”
"An Overview of Sponsorship & Endorsement Deals" featured presentations from two expert deal-makers: Paul Farberman and Gregory N. Weisman, Esq. Mr. Farberman has been a senior executive at both Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox. Most recently, he spent 17 years at Feeling Productions, Celine Dion's management company, where he handled day-to-day management of Celine Dion's career.
Mr. Weisman is outside general counsel for over 100 brands and represents high-profile musicians, athletes, actors, and celebrities in connection with their merchandising, endorsement, branding, and other non-entertainment and off-the-field business endeavors.
The presentation explained how to identify and approach the best brands, and execute win-win deals for artists and brands. It aimed to de-mystify these deals and enable non-lawyers to come away with a clear understanding of the most important points.
Topics that were discussed included the following:
• Key License Terms
• Options
• Advances
• Deliverables
• Clearances
• The Quotation Process
• Common Licensing Problems
• Negotiating the Best Fee
• Closing the Deal
• Case studies: what works, what doesn't and why
