Kirbi Fagan of Plymouth, Michigan Wins L. Ron Hubbard's International Illustrators of the Future Contest and a Trip to Hollywood, California
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) October 14, 2013 -- Kirbi Fagan, of Plymouth, Michigan will be honored at the 30th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement awards being held 13 April 2014 in Los Angeles at a gala awards ceremony. The event next year will celebrate the twenty-four annual winners in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests, where Fagan will be one of the twelve illustrator winners. Her art will also be published in the bestselling Science Fiction/Fantasy anthology series – L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXX. She has already won $500.00 prize money for the win and will now compete with the remaining 11 winners for the grand prize of an additional $5,000.00.
Fagan found out about the contest from Chicago based artist, Lucas Durham who had won the same contest last year. Durham and Fagan were attending an artists workshop on the East Coast shortly after Durham had attended the illustrators of the future event and told Fagan she should enter. She took that advice and won.
As a result, Fagan will be flown to Hollywood to participate in a week long workshop taught by the blue ribbon panel of contest judges lead by Cliff Nielsen (Chronicles of Narnia artwork), followed by the gala awards ceremony at the end of the week.
Other judges and mentors attending during the week are Stephan Martiniere (The Fifth Element concept art), Dave Dorman (Star Wars art), Stephen Hickman (internationally commissioned artist), and Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons) just to name a few.
The Contests were initiated by L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 shortly after returning to the field of science fiction with his bestseller Battlefield Earth.
