Shannon Jefferson, a national SBA lending expert, has acquired the former AGEX Financial, a premier SBA lender service provider, and rebranded the firm with a new name, fresh logo, and expanded services.

Headquartered in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Lyra Lender Services maintains the same strong team with Jefferson as president and owner and is building on their reputation of providing community banks and lending institutions a seamless SBA lending process. Jefferson served as president of AGEX Financial since 2014 and assumed ownership of the company in April.

Lyra Lender Services has processed over 1,000 SBA loans totaling more than $650 million to open the doors of new businesses, spark economic and community growth, and create jobs.
“Our goal is to make SBA lending as easy, if not easier, than conventional lending,” says Jefferson. “Our partnership with bank clients allows them to focus on their strengths of lending and credit analysis while relying on us to handle the complexities of the SBA process. Working together, we grow profitable and effective SBA lending programs with minimal overhead costs.”

Under Jefferson’s leadership, Lyra Lender Services’ all-female powerhouse team offers a combined 45 years of SBA lending and loan processing expertise. An experienced loan servicing manager has also joined the firm, bringing the total number of employees to five.

“We think of Lyra Lender Services as an extension of Centric Bank—a trustworthy partner and our go-to expert on SBA lending. They work with us to package loans for approval to the SBA, answer questions about loan structures, and offer support while loans are being processed,” says Patricia (Patti) A. Husic, president and CEO of Centric Bank, an SBA leader in Pennsylvania. “Banks can’t afford to make uninformed decisions in the lending arena, and Lyra’s knowledge and attention to detail let us streamline and offer the fastest possible approval of SBA loans for our customers.”

“David Light founded AGEX Financial 10 years ago, and we enjoyed incredible growth and success under his direction. Looking forward, we’re excited to add new partner institutions to our growing roster and continue helping small businesses gain access to the capital they need to grow and succeed,” says Jefferson, recognized in 2018 as a “Woman Making a Difference” by both the Bucks County YWCA and Pennsylvania Business Central.

“We’ve worked with Shannon and her team since the inception of our SBA program, and they have played an important role in advising us in all areas, including loan eligibility, servicing, and secondary market sales,” says Mac Wilcox, President & CEO of Savoy Bank, a New York City-based bank and one of the 100 Most Active SBA 7(a) Lenders. “They are responsive, practical, and knowledgeable and have been critical to the growth of our SBA lending.”

“A critical aspect of our mission is to help small business owners, especially people of color and women, who have had difficulty obtaining financing to start or grow their business. Providing loans to these businesses fosters economic development and helps revitalize challenged and underserved communities. Lyra Lender Services really understands the importance of what we do and how we operate,” says Daniel Betancourt, President and CEO of Community First Fund. “In our six-year relationship with Shannon and her team, they’ve packaged hundreds of loans for us and greatly enhanced our experience with the SBA. This, in turn, has created jobs and filled vacant retail spaces on Main Streets across central Pennsylvania with thriving businesses such as barbershops, bodegas, boutique shops, hair salons, and restaurants.”
