Technology like this is critical for MacStadium and our customers as we have over 20,000 Mac computers deployed in data centers across the world.

MacStadium, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class cloud solutions for Apple Mac infrastructure, announces that the company has been granted U.S. Patent No. 10,327,351 for Sled, Tray, and Shelf Assembly for Computer Data Centers. This raises MacStadium’s patent portfolio to five issued patents dating back to 2016.

MacStadium has a history of designing and redesigning technology to rack mount Apple Mac computers for optimal performance, uptime, and serviceability in enterprise data centers. Because Macs are required for the development and testing of iOS, iPad, watchOS, tvOS, and Mac apps, MacStadium’s cloud infrastructure is essential for everyone from large enterprises to start-ups that are developing apps within the Apple ecosystem.

MacStadium’s most recent patent covers advancements in racking the 2013 Mac Pro which the company continues to deploy. Despite the 2013 Mac Pro being an older product line from Apple, it is still the top choice of many teams that want a mix of power, high core density, and flexibility when it comes to automation and base OS. For example, the 2013 Mac Pro is the most powerful Mac that is compatible with VMware’s ESXi or any Linux variant.

“Technology like this is critical for MacStadium and our customers as we have over 20,000 Mac computers deployed in data centers across the world,” said Greg McGraw, MacStadium’s CEO. “This sled, alongside even newer innovations, allows us to meet our customers’ needs for scale, uptime, performance, and support.”

In production for four years, this patented sled design includes elements that expand the Mac Pro’s I/O capacity to include dual power, dual 10G network interfaces, and dual storage fabric to ensure super-fast SAN storage access. These upgrades are crucial for MacStadium customers that run high-performance, scalable clouds built on Apple Mac Pro computers.

MacStadium continues to innovate as Apple expands their lineup of Mac computers, including patent-pending racks for the iMac Pro and the 2018 Mac mini.
