Tulemar Resort Celebrates Improvements to Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- Manuel Antonio National Park, often called the “jewel” in Costa Rica’s extensive national parks system is in the process of updating almost five kilometers of trails.
With the goals of offering a better experience and improving visitor safety, the trails will be amplified to a width of 1.5 meters, and surfaced in permeable concrete, which will, according to a spokesman for the project, allow better filtration during the seasonal tropical rains.
Tulemar Resort spokesman Dave Houck says the work is important. “The Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the few places in the world where visitors can observe exotic animals such as monkeys and sloths in their natural rainforest environment. Making the park's facilities even more accessible will help our guests have a more enjoyable experience exploring the park. It’s great to see the department that manages the park respond to the growing demand.”
Tulemar Resort recently received the 2014 TripAdvisor award for “Best Hotel for Families” in Costa Rica and Central America and provides accommodations to travelers seeking to stay near the park facilities.
Travel writer Patricia Schultz includes Manuel Antonio National Park in her best-selling 2011 guide, “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” and the park also appears on Forbes list of “The World’s Most Beautiful National Parks.”
In addition to the new and widened trails, the project will also include the the installation of several booths where snacks and drinks will be offered, as well as the construction of storage lockers where visitors will be able to securely keep their belongings while they explore the park.
Manuel Antonio National Park was created in 1972, and receives approximately 380,000 visitors per year. The planned updates to the park’s infrastructure is expected to increase the capacity of the park to receive more tourists in the future.
