Maponics Introduces International Postal District Boundaries through TomTom Partnership
White River Junction, VT (PRWEB) November 04, 2014 -- Maponics, a leader in geospatial data, today announced the release of International Postal District Boundaries, a new product offering postal boundary data for 39 countries outside of North America. Maponics designed the product to assist global businesses in their mobile, direct marketing, and location-based marketing campaigns.
International Postal Boundaries is the first in a series of products created through a partnership between Maponics and TomTom, a global leader in mapping. The next product built from the partnership will be International Administrative Boundaries, which is currently scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2014.
“The partnership with TomTom allows Maponics to apply our market knowledge in mining TomTom’s expertise in mapping to create application-ready products,” says Dan Adams, CEO of Maponics. “This partnership makes tremendous sense for our customers.”
TomTom, a global leader in map data, is the creator of MultiNet, a highly sophisticated, densely layered mapping database. To develop International Postal Boundaries, Maponics combined data from specific MultiNet files to present a single, accessible GIS database, updated quarterly, and available in a number of easily loadable formats including Shapefile, WKT, PostGIS, and MySQL.
“Our International Postal Boundaries product is not only easy to use, but offers consistent product structure and formats across countries,” says Maponics Product Manager Mike Villarreal. “The postal boundaries for Brazil are provided in the same way as those in Thailand and all other countries.” Such consistency is vital for mobile, local search, and direct marketers, as well as for any business in need of global postal data, he said.
In addition to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, the product covers 39 countries in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. They are: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russian Federation, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vatican City, Brazil, Morocco, South Africa, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan Province of China, and Thailand.
The global product includes postal district polygons; postal codes and names; and administrative names, both in English and the native language of the specific geography.
