A lot of people today are looking for healthy cookware and have questions about the safety of Teflon, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, and clay.

In his latest article, cooking instructor Mark Jala looks at healthy cookware and safe cookware trends. Mr. Jala identifies several types of cookware materials that are considered healthy and picks his best products for each material. Those with questions about Teflon, anodized aluminum, cast iron, clay, or stainless steel cookware, or about the many cookware brands, will find the latest findings about the cookware materials most helpful.

"A lot of people today are looking for healthy cookware and have questions about the safety of Teflon, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, and clay. As an avid cook I find certain kinds of cookware make better meals than other kinds of cookware. My latest article blends the latest research on safe cookware with that of the cooking results each cookware material provides," says Mr. Jala.

Mr. Jala points out that stainless steel, cast iron, and clay cookware are considered healthy cookware. While there are variations within each category, his article explains the details.

A growing trend Mr. Jala finds is that of eco-friendly or "green" cookware. While many try to keep out the PFOA and PTFE chemicals from their nonstick products, the results are largely less than desirable. Mr. Jala says "I do find a couple products performing very well over time that are considered eco-friendly. Scanpan products, while still having PTFE traces from the manufacturing process perform extremely well over time. Being dishwasher safe and an excellent nonstick surface makes Scanpan products are real gem. The Cuisinart GreenGourmet product line, while not dishwasher safe, also performs exceptionally well over the long term."
