A new winter coat might seem like such a small thing, but to someone who does not have a coat, it often equates to more than just warmth.

While the need for warm coats has never been greater, it has also never been easier to meet this vital need in our community. Dr. Alexandra Khaimov, dentist in Maspeth, invited local residents to join her in an effort to ensure that no one goes without a warm coat this winter.
Dr. Khaimov held a Holiday Coat Drive that ended on Dec. 24th 2013 and collected over 20 clean, new and gently used warm coats, as well as hats, scarves and gloves. The coat drive provided an easy way for individuals and families to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors by simply passing along coats and jackets that are no longer needed. And she rewarded the effort of each person, who brought a coat, with a $50 voucher that can be used to cover dental expenses.
All collected coats and winter accessories were donated to NY Housing Authority Project to help people in need.
"So many of our neighbors need help these days. A new winter coat might seem like such a small thing, but to someone who does not have a coat, it often equates to more than just warmth. Together we can help our community during this holiday season," says Maspeth NY dentist Dr. Khaimov.
This is not the first community event Dr. Alexandra Khaimov is sponsoring. Recently, she hosted a Food Drive to help local food banks with food donations. And in July she held a Free Dental Day where many people received dental treatment at no cost.
