MatchRX Urges Members To Be Diligent About Selling Medications On Its Marketplace For Texas Independent Pharmacies; Pledges Support For NCPA Foundation Disaster Relief
Royal Oak, Michigan (PRWEB) September 06, 2017 -- With 75 percent of pharmacies recovering in parts of Texas from Hurricane Harvey, MatchRX is urging its member independent pharmacies across the country to unite and post overstock and short-dated medications on the MatchRX marketplace to help Texans who may have lost their medicines or need new medications.
The MatchRX marketplace consists of 5,000 independent pharmacy members that buy and sell small quantities of non-controlled, non-expired prescription medications for a specific patient need or declared public health emergency.
“Hundreds of Texas independent pharmacies are members with MatchRX, and we want to do all we can to help them get back in business to help their patients who face enormously difficult days ahead,” said MatchRX CEO John Kello. “We know that thousands of people fled their homes with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Pharmacists within the impacted and surrounded areas urgently require medications that our members can quickly and easily provide through the MatchRX marketplace.”
Kello said MatchRX is partnering with the National Community Pharmacy Association (NCPA) Foundation to help member independent pharmacies in Texas “as they face the daunting task of rebuilding their pharmacies and their lives while trying to serve the patients who depend on them.”
Through the month of September, MatchRX is donating 10% of its fees based on purchases from Texas member pharmacies through the MatchRX marketplace to the NCPA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund.
“The Disaster Relief Fund was depleted after Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina so we are grateful to MatchRX and their members for any contributions they can make,” said NCPA Foundation Vice President Gerald Shapiro, PharmD. “We are confident that, working together, everyone in the pharmacy community can help Texas come through this crisis stronger than ever.”
