SEATTLE, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- University Child Development School (UCDS), the education hub driven by innovation, has opened registration for its annual 'Constructing Mathematical Understanding' workshop. The interactive five-day course will take place on UCDS' campus from August 12-16, 2019 and is designed for pre-K, elementary and middle school educators who are seeking to elevate their math teaching practice.
This workshop offers educators the opportunity to learn new techniques for teaching math concepts through a variety of student learning style approaches. In addition, the workshop will highlight how to blend varied techniques with traditional teaching methodologies across content areas.
"At UCDS, we emphasize the importance of blending mathematical concepts with innovative teaching methods, resulting in a fresh approach to teaching math," David Garrick, Dean of the Graduate School of Education said. "We will equip educators with the tools they need to increase student engagement with math, and expand upon current understandings."
Attendees can expect to develop teaching and assessment techniques that align with various levels of student understanding, and leave with actionable concepts to apply directly to their school's existing math curriculum.
"Through this program, we want to give educators a stress-free environment to explore various methods for teaching math, based on the UCDS innovative learning model," said Melissa Chittenden, Assistant Head of School at UCDS. "Nobody attending this course will be put on the spot to share their mathematical skills, so math expert or not, we're inviting educators to register, learn proven strategies for instruction and have fun."
For over 25 years, UCDS has promoted innovation and advancement in education through diverse professional development programs and partnerships. This workshop follows UCDS' innovative learning model by considering how to adapt instruction to every child's unique learning style, and equip them with skills to be successful in school and beyond. Through a differentiated and hands-on approach, attendees will explore ways to use a theme to weave math into literature, science, writing and social studies projects.
All experience levels are welcome at this event. Early bird registration is available for $400/person through May 1st. To register, visit https://immersifire.myshopify.com/collections/quarter-long-professional-development-courses/products/math-workshop-2019.
