McCathern LLP Files Class Action Complaint on Behalf of El Segundo Residents Against the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant and the City of Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On July 30, 2021, McCathern LLP filed a class action complaint in the Los Angeles Superior Court (case no. 21STCV28114) on behalf of residents of El Segundo, CA against the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant and the City of Los Angeles.
Ms. Mecklenburg, the named Plaintiff, is a current resident of El Segundo. Attorneys Evan Selik and Christine Zaouk of McCathern, LLP are handling the case. The class action alleges that the Defendants were reckless in operating and maintaining the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant, causing the July 11, 2021 sewage spill. The complaint alleges that as a result of the spill and ongoing cleanup, nearby neighborhoods are being exposed to chemicals and pollutants, including hydrogen sulfide.
