Renowned Cardiac Expert Dr. Harold Fernandez Becomes First Medical Editor-in-Chief of MD Magazine: Cardiology and Metabolic Health

Hennessy Associates, Inc., has announced that Harold Fernandez, M.D., has joined MD Magazine: Cardiology & Metabolic Health Edition as its first medical editor-in-chief, effective with the current print and online editions.
Dr. Fernandez is chief of Cardiovascular Surgery and system director of Surgical Heart Failure at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, N.Y., and Professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Hofstra-North Shore LIJ School of Medicine. He is a leading expert in cardiovascular biology and molecular genetics.

As medical editor-in-chief, Dr. Fernandez will draw on his years of training and experience as a cardiothoracic surgeon that began at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology to guide content development and provide insight into the rapidly evolving field of cardiothoracic medicine. Dr. Fernandez, also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University, where he received a degree in molecular biology and was awarded the Moses Taylor Pyne Honor Prize, the highest general distinction at Princeton.

In addition to his contributions to the field of cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Fernandez is nationally recognized for his book “Undocumented: My Journey to Princeton and Harvard and Life as a Heart Surgeon” which chronicled his compelling life story as an undocumented immigrant whose determination and perseverance led to his citizenship and admission to those leading universities.
