Toronto, ON (PRWEB) October 10, 2017
Intermountain Healthcare, through its Proven Imaging initiative is collaborating with MedCurrent to integrate its Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) into the OrderWise™ clinical decision support (CDS) platform to allow for access to imaging recommendations by leveraging Intermountain’s Clinical Programs and Care Process Models.
“Proven Imaging AUC are designed to be image ordering modules for use within a broader evidence-based blueprint of care for the management of common disease processes. Intermountain is actively developing and deploying these care blueprints and refers to them as Care Process Models (CPMs). Deploying imaging AUC in this way will enable health systems to move beyond compliance to realize real improvements in quality and value for patients” says Keith White, MD, Medical Director of Imaging Services for Intermountain.
The Proven Imaging initiative is dedicated to the development, maintenance, and deployment of evidence-based standards for imaging in support of its mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. The appropriate use of imaging must be defined and understood within the specific clinical context in which it occurs. This context can be very complex and include factors such as demographics, prior medical history, signs and symptoms, prior diagnostic test results and current therapies. Intermountain Healthcare is recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as an approved provider-led entity (PLE) for developing, modifying and endorsing AUC.
"MedCurrent’s continued collaboration with Intermountain Healthcare will enable more appropriate, evidence-based care for patients," says Stephen Herman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, MedCurrent Corp. "Our team has been working closely with the Proven Imaging initiative to integrate their imaging AUC into MedCurrent’s CDS technology solution, with a focus on workflow and structuring clinical content that ensures the integrity and high-standards expected of Intermountain. This relationship means healthcare providers will now have access to nationally recognized imaging recommendations delivered at the point of care to meet the requirements of the CMS mandate for Appropriate Use of advanced imaging set to start in 2019.”
