Medeco Introduces the XT Safe Lock--Retrofits Existing Mechanical or Electronic Safe Locks to Provide Access Control
SALEM, Va. (PRWEB) February 20, 2019 -- Medeco, a division of ASSA ABLOY N.A., located in Salem, Va., has unveiled a new addition to the Medeco XT Intelligent Key System product line. The Medeco XT Safe Lock was designed to retrofit safes and other physical security devices that utilize standard mechanical dial combination locks or digital keypad locks.
Medeco XT is an offline access control system. Cylinders are installed as a direct replacement to mechanical locks, without the need for expensive hard wiring and door modifications. All power to the cylinder comes from the Medeco XT key. Accesses are recorded in both the cylinder and the key for complete audit capability. Keys are assigned to specific users and scheduled as required. Keys are programmed to only open the appropriate locks during the appropriate time frame. Access rights can be revoked if a lost key incident or personnel change should occur.
The New Medeco XT Safe Lock is an elegant and robust solution that includes a reader with key port mounted on the outside of the safe door, and an interior locking mechanism. Once installed, the Medeco XT Safe Lock will remain in "locked" state securing the safe or other physical security device. An LED provides visual feedback to the User on the current state of the lock. Only authorized keys can gain access to the Safe lock. A complete audit trail can be downloaded from either the key or lock, providing the accountability that financial institutions require, eliminating the need for recording openings in cumbersome logbooks.
“Any business with a safe, and in particular a financial institution, has the opportunity to significantly improve its overall security by simply replacing its outdated lock and key system with a Medeco XT Intelligent Key System,” said Gene Cronin, Medeco XT product line manager. Combining the new XT Safe Lock with the rest of our XT Intelligent Key System makes for an ideal solution for the financial industry and beyond. With the addition of this unique Safe lock solution, the Medeco XT system can now permanently address mechanical key system challenges, and also eliminate combination/PIN code management issues that are often problematic in financial institutions that utilize dial or push-button locks on safes.”
