Mediaplanet Partners with NORD, Genetic Alliance, Gaten Matarazzo and More to Help Raise Awareness for Rare Diseases
Mediaplanet's latest campaign for Rare Disease Day 2019 within USA TODAY and online shines a light on the newest innovations in the rare-disease community.
NEW YORK, Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Mediaplanet announces the launch of the February edition of the "Rare Diseases" Campaign. This campaign will showcase the innovative work being done within rare-disease research and diagnostics and will highlight what industry experts and patients see as potential future therapies for those living with rare diseases.
Gaten Matarazzo, the 16-year-old star of Netflix's "Stranger Things," is the cover story of the print edition and sets the tone for the campaign's mission of awareness. Matarazzo is a long-term supporter of the rare disease community and he works closely with CCD Smiles, an organization dedicated to raising awareness for Cleidocranial dysplasia, which occurs in one in every one million births - including his. Matarazzo hopes to bring awareness to the cause and continue to use his platform to inspire others. In the interview, Matarazzo discusses his condition in hopes of giving a voice to others and states "It's not a fatal condition, but that doesn't mean it doesn't affect people's lives negatively."
The print component of "Rare Diseases" is distributed within this weekend's edition of USA Today in New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C./ Baltimore, South Florida, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and North Central Florida, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 750,000. The digital component is distributed nationally through a vast social media strategy and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. The campaign is available online on Mediaplanet's health site, futureofpersonalhealth.com.
This campaign was made possible with the support of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), Gaten Matarazzo, Sanofi Genzyme, Takeda, Covance, Retrophin, Incyte, BioMarin Pharmaceutical, Progenics Pharmaceuticals, Strongbridge BioPharma, Amicus Therapeutics, the Jackson Laboratory, HVH Precision Analytics, Rare and Undiagnosed Network, Personalized Medicine Coalition, Genetic Alliance, CCD Smiles and more.
